I’m guilty… I’m guilty of being one of those people that never used to clean their faces in the evenings, or the mornings for that matter. I never really believed in that, as weird as that sounds, as obviously it is not good for your face to sleep with layers of make-up on your face, let a long night after night. But about a year ago, I realized that I am not getting any younger, and that it is quite important to take good care of your skin. That also means buying clean products with ingredients that are good for us… or at least better than most of that crap we are willing to smear on our faces without giving it a second thought.
My first step was a baby step, the most I did for the first year was to clean the eye makeup off with a cream, and that was it. I had noticed that my eye lashes had started breaking from the countless nights of sleeping with the mascara on, so this was my first focus area. Once I started seeing a difference, it hit me… the same goes for our skin. I went on a mission to find products that were recommended by other bloggers or make-up artists or other hopeless first time users such as my self. However, I quickly learned that although something works for someone else, it doesn’t necessarily fit my needs.
I have a very tricky complexion, it seems that most creams, serum, toners and basically everything I have tried actually makes my face quite oily and irritated, so Ive usually had to stop using all products I’ve previously bought. So after wasting a lot of money, I started always going to the Department stores and ask for samples before actually buying the product. This way I could try it out and then come back for more if I didn’t have a bad reaction.
The Origins brand is the first brand I seem to be able to use in its entirety. I absolutely love every single product I have bought from them and I will definitely be re-buying and trying out some other lines than the ones I already have later on.
- Drink Up Intensive, an overnight hydrating mask that smells like peaches. Absolutely love this mask, I put it on after my cleansing routine in the evenings, and then I wash my face with warm water the morning after. The only bad thing about this mask is that if I use it more than once every two weeks my skin gets a bit irritated, but I see it as a great in between other masks, mask to use. This mask is more for people with dryer skin, but I still feel that my skin is great if I use it once in a while
- Out of Trouble, now this mask can be your knight in shining armor. Designed to try up and clean problem skin, such as pimples, and can be very beneficial as a quick solution for a night out, or just if your face is acting up. It is definitely the worst smelling mask, but it almost smells clean, if that makes any sense!
- Clear Improvement, a deep cleansing mask with active charcoal that acts as a magnet for all those things that are clogging up your pores. For those of you who are slightly OCD like me, this mask also shows visible progress as the mask dries and attacks the pores, which makes me feel like I can see the results right away. I do recommend after own experience to keep use this mask mostly on oily zones like the t-zone as I have noticed it dries up my cheeks if I leave it there for too long. I mostly focus on my nose and chin where I have pores and more problem areas.
I am by no means a specialist in this area, and this purely reflects my own experience of the products, but if I can inspire at least one of those new comers to skin care, or even a seasoned user, to discover these genius products, then I have accomplished my goals with this post! 🙂
